Cafe Hopping: Tiong Bahru Bakery

One of my new year resolutions is to try out more new things. Of course that includes more cafes! Kinda unbelievable, but it was my first time having Tiong Bahru Bakery.

Lemon Tart
The biscuit part is sweet, while the top layer with a bit of jelly texture is sour, the part below it is cream. Personally I love the balance of sweetness and sourness.

Something, which I forgot its name =x Basically, it is salmon with cream cheese
Everything with salmon is good =P

Tuna Focaccia
Didn't try much of the tuna focaccia, so I have no comment except that the portion is very big that Mr Monkey could not finish it.

I also order iced capuchino, which is decent. And aside from the food, I really like the retro vibe of the cafe, old school plates and trays, and tables with giant pencils as legs!

Cafe Hopping: Chock Full of Beans

Finally exam is over! Despite the overwhelming feel of quarter life crisis, we deserve a good rest and some time relax and chill before the barrel of life starts again. To satisfy Zhuzhu's craving for Latte art, we went Chock Full of Beans.

The menu

Decor in the cafe

Mickey Mouse's friend, who we forgot his name.. =0

Snoopy!

Our cups of pretty pretty coffee

Always photo before food

Maria with her sandwich and caramel macchiato

The portion is very filling for girls

Uncle next table ordered this really adorable ice coffee

Wild mushroom and truffle pasta

Finally, not forgetting the dessert

It was our first time there. The coffee was pretty good and extremely cute of course. The main courses we had were so so I guess. The New York Cheese Cake was surprisingly refreshing and tasty. The price was very reasonable among cafes I have visited, without service charge and GST. Definitely worth going and spend some quality time with friends there.

All day breakfast @ Au Chocolat

I could not help to notice this cute cafe, which its logo is my favourite ribbon at MBS. Today, finally we had a chance to try, thanks to the monkey!

 King breakfast - $26
Indeed king breakfast, it has two toasts, with sausage, lots of bacon, and scrambled eggs, etc. With tomato and avocado, i guess it is a pretty balanced meal. =P

Sweet morning pancakes - $16
4 Pancakes with strawberry and banana. Very decent, I would say. The monkey preferred this over the king breakfast.

Hot fudge - $10
The monkey, who is a true chocolate lover ordered this. It came with two marshmallows inside. The chocolate is very smooth, and the marshmallow tastes like BBQ marshmallow, melts instantly!

Pineapple pleasure - $12
Pineapple makes a chocolaty drink more refreshing. The sourness and the sweetness of white chocolate balanced nicely.

Cute coaster, which I shamelessly took home =P

The portion of food is very generous. Despite we were both very hungry and the food was tasty, we could not finish everything. Honestly, I think the price, the portion and taste are much better than some of the cafes I have tried. Anyway, the next to-try-items shall be their desserts!

Land of smiles - Day 2

The second day was the shopping day!

We went Platinum mall first and had lunch at the food hall on the top floor.

Thai fried glass noodle

Phad thai

With super sweet thai ice tea (milk tea)

Initially i did not have much expectations for shopping in Bangkok, as I normally shop in Hong Kong or Korea. HOWEVER.... after the first day of shopping at Platinum mall... I almost bursted my budget. =0

This is how you try clothes in Bangkok

There are a lot of good quality tshirts with cute designs there. We probably bought about 6 each (?).

He's in men's hell! XD

One of the agenda was to tailor make shirts and pants for the guy. The tailor is recommended by his brother. So we walked there from Platinum Mall. He made three shirts and one pair of pants. Being tempted, I also ended up making one pencil skirt. The fit of the skirt is soooo good. Next time, I shall make 10 of them! (Just kidding)

Chocolate crepe along the way

Weight gaining in progress =P

After putting our loots in the hotel, we went Asiatique and also had dinner there. Hmm, can't remember the name of the cafe where we had dinner. It serves fusion thai food / thai western food. Pretty yummy with reasonable price (much cheaper compare to other restaurants in the area).

His spaghetti

Tom yum spaghetti yum yum!

Some of the shops there are really unique, while the rest are similar to what we found in platinum mall or normal suvenior stores. We didn't buy anything there, as it was either not pocket friendly or we can't bring it back. Regardless, you could consider window shopping or just taking some photos there.

Leather x metal home decor animals

Little mermaid ring

Cute dogs everywhere =D

Obviously no guts to try

A vintage store

Before we went to take the ferry back, we went Chalet De Coco Cafe & Bar Bistro for its coconut cake. I think my stomach capacity automatically expands whenever overseas. =0

'Hmm look at my belly..'

'But I think there's still space for a slice of cake! =))'

Very refreshing and not so sweet, as good as highly recommended by the Elvis looking boss

Thai ice tea

To be continued! Floating market and tiger temple in Day 3 =)
